November
8, 2006
Issue No. 58-5
Back 2 Da Basics.
Editor's comments:
"We burn the fat off our souls"......Hemingway
wrote that. I take that statement to mean: We work and struggle
to do something great in the arena that we love. I say that
to say this. There have been a few rumors swirling around
our beloved SA-Urban and I feel I should put them to rest
before they go any further. It has been said that there
will be Editor, Contributing Writer and format changes implemented
in the next few months. Chuck Jones will remain Editor-in-Chief,
I will stay Managing Editor. There will be some Contributing
Writer changes, as we all feel the need to get back to basics.
So, yes we have had to tighten up the camp. As far as the
upcoming format changes are concerned, we will be moving
back toward the more traditional magazine layout style that
all of you seem to like.. So never fear San Antonio, SA-Urban
has got your back 100%.. |

Issue No.2
"A City Devided"
Editor's comments:
In
this edition, I really wanted to touch on what the problems
are for San Antonio hip-hop/rap artists to get recognition.
Many that we spoke to are true in their conviction that
San Antonio artists are so wrapped up in trying to be the
first one to put San Antonio on the map that it's become
a dog-eat-dog concept where local artists would rather "die"
musically rather than support fellow artists and become
a united front in the rap war. |

SA Urban's Inaugural Edition
Editor's comments:
Our
inaugural edition touches on a couple of things. One,
it tells what I, as Cheif Editor, would like the newspaper
to be about, REAL commentary about what's going on in San
Antonio's urban scene. Secondly, it touches on regional
talent and the way Texas has continued to make a name for
itself without the help of major labels. |
